New restaurants and revamps to check out that I’ve not been to (yet):
🥗 Chef Abdel Alaoui’s bright spot Choukran (Paris 9) where you can now feast on contemporary Moroccan specials like his mum’s fresh méchouia salad, finger pastillas, couscous and lots more, is now open.
🍗 If you’re a fan of street food and fried chicken’s your guilty pleasure, then Dogma (Paris 10) brought to you by the clan of Pompette (Paris 9) will probably hit the spot with its crispy tenders and burgers perfect for that morning after.
🦐 Now here’s something for seafood lovers on a budget. Dive below the surface at immersive restaurant Under the Sea (Paris 13), where sea life unravels on screens around you as you eat. We’ve been and it’s fun. This season, the crew’s debuting seafood platters from just 22 euros. Hard to beat.
🍴Beautiful Datsha restaurant with its red-lit basement bar in the Marais is switching things up in the kitchen with chef Minwou Choi, who’s rustling up plates to be shared of French staples with Mediterranean twist.
🥘 Clément Vergeat, behind Nellu (Paris 4), is giving his first restaurant, Tamara the new name of Tracé (Paris 1).
🌮 There’s a new taquería in Paris 10 with Beatriz Gonzalez’s Taco Mesa.
📽️ Check out Muse, the new café tucked inside film studio Commune Image in Saint Ouen. It’s open to all and has great-value lunch menus with an Afro-Caribbean twist.
🍜 Lao Siam, a local favorite for Thai food in Belleville, reopens on the 11th after being closed for renovations.
💰💰 THE BUZZ
If you’ve got lots of cash to splash, then get yourself to these exciting new spots.
As well the spots covered by Florence in our new section Go With The Flo, check out Michelin starred chef William Ledeuil’s Oktobre (ex-Ze Kitchen Galerie Bis) where he’s given the reins to a young, long-standing member of his brigade, Martin Maumet. The Pariente family’s doing it again and opening a beauty of a hotel, Le Grand Mazarin, with a restaurant headed by Assaf Granit and Tomer Lanzman (behind the success of Shabour). Well loved bistro Le 6 Paul Bert now has the brilliant Pauline Séné in the kitchen. Hit chef Manon Fleury is opening her own digs at Datil in the Marais. Greg Marchand behind the Michelin star Frenchie is turning his FTG (Frenchie To Go) into an Italian eatery: Altro Frenchie. Culinary heavyweight Christophe Moret takes the helm of three-star l’Ambroisie. Beautiful Les Climats restaurants welcomes Teddy Lefort as the new chef. New owners are bringing Le Cheval d’Or back to its Chinese roots with dishes from the late 80s. Bloom House, an urban hotel with a spa and a dreamy pool, is about to open in Paris 10.
