What's happening in Paris this November
New restaurants, art openings, fun events happening. I'll be adding to this post throughout the month, so don't hesitate to get in touch with any fun events.
1 November: Restaurant magnate Benjamin Patou behind the French hospitality group Moma, is partnering with Mory Sacko and opening Lafayette’s, a restaurant at the former Mazin Hotel, once the residence of General Lafayette in the 1800s, who is a celebrated figure of the French Revolution.
4 November: Dure Vie is back for a night of eclectic electro sounds at La Machine in the Moulin Rouge’s underbelly with artists like Parisian DJ Bambounou and other artists from Norway to Australia.
9-12 November: Paris Photo Week is one of the most exciting events of the year and biggest photography fairs in the world, bringing together over 200 galleries from all over the globe, as well as individual photographers.
9-12 November: Made in France fair, one of the biggest celebrations of French brands (1,000 brands will be present), many of which are steeped in ethical values, like Amalthea, the natural French cosmetics brand with a stylish space on rue des Gravilliers (Paris 3).
12 November (until 14 January): Celebrate Diwali, the Indian festival of light over darkness, good over evil and knowledge over ignorance at events across Paris. This year, the Musée du quai Branly is putting on Bollywood balls on Sundays through January.
16 November: Get to FGO Barbara for Les Aliennes open mic session from 7pm for an evening of festive feminist vibes.
18 November: As part of the ongoing festival ‘What Palestine brings us’ at the Institute of the Arab World (ends 19th November), there will be a day-long conference about French writer Jean Genet and his intimate ties to Palestine, which he captured in writings that filled two suitcases that he handed over two weeks before he died in 1986.
Until 25 November: Marais-based Mariposa Gallery’s inaugural exhibition features photographs of trips to France from 1969 to 1979 by noted ceramicist and painter Peter Schlesinger, also known for being the subject in numerous notable canvases by the British painter David Hockney.
29 November (until 28 April, 2024): Iris van Herpen: Sculpting the Senses at the Musée des Art Décoratifs pays tribute to one of the most forward-thinking fashion designers. A pioneer in the use of new technologies in her discipline, she transgresses conventional clothing norms.
Just opened:
Facette, a floating restaurant on the River Seine with a laid-back Mediterranean menu with a DJ on Thursday to Saturday. Also on the Seine, the hotel OFF Seine’s relaunched its restaurant with a signature truffle croque monsieur on the menu. After Under the Sea and Stellar, the Ephemera Group is launching Jungle Palace, a jungle themed restaurant close to Gare de l’Est. There’s a host of new hotels opening in Paris too, like the Hôtel des Grands Voyageurs (Paris 15), Hotel Norman close to the Champs Elysées, and Touriste group’s zany Hotel de la Boétie (Paris 8) designed by Beata Heumann.
