What's happening in Paris in June
Restaurant, art show and event openings in Paris to put on your radar this month.
Now open | OOBATZ is Dan Pearson’s pizza place, which I got a taste of at his pop-up in the Rigmarole restaurant a year or so ago, and it’s just opened in Paris 11th. I’m not joking when I say they were among the tastiest pizzas I’ve had. Think crunchy sourdough bases with lots of tasty toppings and well-sourced gooey cheese. Needless to say, it’s on my list of places to check out.
Now open | Dandelion by chef-sommelier duo Antoine Villard and Morgane Souris has opened in Paris 20th. A play on words, meaning teeth of the lion (dents de lion), they’re serving fresh, seasonal neo-bistro fare.
Now open | I’m a huge fan of Vanessa Grall, the bright mind behind Messy Nessy Chic, which started out as a blog where she would share her tales exploring Paris’ secrets, and ended up being among the most-read websites about Paris and beyond. She’s since released several offbeat guides about Paris, New York and London, and is now opening a brick and mortar store inside the Left-Bank atelier of a retired artist.
1st June | Soak in art all night long tonight (1st June) at Nuit Blanche, which up to two years ago, used to be in October. The weather may not be up to scratch but June’s bound to be off to a good start when you see what’s on offer. So get planning what to see and do with this handy map with most of the events happenings across Paris.
Until 2nd June | The Recyclerie’s putting on a Japanese flea market inside the old train station and along the abandoned railway of Paris.
5th June | Two of my favourite spots, El Nopal taqueria in Paris 9 is teaming up with Soces in the 19th for a one-night pop up of banging grub.
7-9th June | Marateuf, a 42-hour dance marathon set to take place to celebrate free and conscious partying mindset, starting at venues like the Tradendo, Cité Fertile, Point Ephémère, Rosa Bonheur and Bellevilloise.
12th June | Leading Parisian street art gallery Itinerrance is kicking off ‘We Are Here’, an urban art exhibition at the Petit Palais with over 200 works by artists like Shepard Fairey, Invader, D*Face, Seth, Cleon Peterson, Hush, Swoon, Vhils, Inti, and Add Fuel.
21st June | The Fête de la Musique, when bands and performers set up inside bars and restaurants as well as on squares to share their music. The official programme is here.
24th June | Self-published Revue Originale, a literary magazine in French and English, will be having the launch party of their second edition at Hoba in Paris 17.
25-29 June | Top Chef contender and right-hand man to Michelin star Guy Savoy Quentin Maufrais is taking over the restaurant Sadarnac in Paris 20.
26 June-23 July | In France, pretty much everything goes on sale during les soldes for a month twice a year.
